So Saturday we went to Redlands, Ca to attend the Redlands Temple and then check out the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which was nearby. We brought a young woman friend from the ward with us to babysit the kids while we went to a session. It was a hot day, but we had a great time. The kids loved riding to the top of the mountain in the tram and then hiking around the state park on top.

She said YES!!!!

It's official...I am marrying the most incredible girl I have ever known...Miss Natali Rae Wyson. I flew out to Provo today to seal the deal and everything ran smoothly...okay you know that can't be true. First of all, I accidentally booked my flight out of Springfield Illinois instead of Springfield Missouri!!! At the airport they couldn't find me in their computers but then figured out the mistake. They said they could put me on a later flight but I told them that I needed to get engaged tonight and a later flight was not going to work. So somehow they managed to work it out to get me on an immediate flight but then on my layover I had to run through the airport and barely made it on time. Then Ryne came and picked me up at the airport but we forgot the ring so had to turn around at Draper and go back!

Thankfully in the end, everything worked out. I set up a projector at Natali's house and showed a video on her wall with the Eiffel Tower in the background. The video showed pictures of us and listed a lot of reasons why I love her. She loved it. Geez I'm so romantic. Then I got down on one knee, confessed my love to her, told her she is the girl I want by my side for the rest of eternity and then asked her to marry me. The craziest part of this story is that she said "yes"!!! We are so happy. Here are some pics of us and the ring.

Did I mention...

that I went to WICKED???
Katee invited me to go with her and Heather and Barry let me Go!! I have know these girls since I first moved to the valley and it was a fun little reunion. We had a lot of catching up to do, that is AFTER we enjoyed watching a FANTASTIC show. I had no previous like or dislike to WICKED. I didn't even know what it was about. Barry at least knew it had to do with the Wizard of Oz. I didn't. I just heard it was worth seeing, and IT WAS. I really do appreciate talented people. I was certainly entertained.

I almost didn't go because I was right in the middle of finishing Barry's office and was running sooo late. GLAD I did!!

Trip to the Windy City

So Kirk and I spent the weekend in Chicago visiting some of his family. It was my first time to Chicago and I loved it. It is a big, fun city with lots of people and really tall buildings. AND  by the way, I found out that it is called the Windy City not because it is actually windy, but rather because of the politics- I had no idea! It was really beautiful and wasn't windy at all.
The bean- which is really a big bean- shaped mirror. Kind of weird, but tourist go crazy over it. You can see the whole Chicago sky line looking in it- or just people that are a little oddly-shaped. Both were neat.

We spent a couple days in Michigan at their Lake house. It was incredible. This is the view from the back door- talk about being right  on the lake! They just leave their boat and jet-ski docked and ready to party! It was a bit overcast during our stay, but we still loved it.
Scott, Karen and their son Michael at the lake house.
They took us to a bunch of cool little restaurants. This little ice cream parlor had the most delicious ice cream.
This is the view from the top of the Willis Tower, formally the Sears Tower. It is the tallest building in North America- a whoppin 113 stories!
They had these little 1 1/2 inch thick glass boxes poking out from the top that you could stand in and look over the city. Kirk thought it would be fun to jump when we are in it, but I insisted that just taking a picture was fun enough for me.
At the top of the tower looking over the city.
The last day we went on an architectural tour by boat in the Chicago River. Lots of fun!

LaVerl is Amazing!

Laverl thought it would be fun to try to hatch out some of our chicken eggs! He bought this little incubator, read lots of info on the process, put in some fertile eggs and here's the results... These little chicks were 3 days premature, they were supposed to hatch out on July 21st! They look a little scrawny and some still have their eyes closed shut, but most are doing pretty well. Its amazing to first see the little peep hole, then they continue breaking the shell in a circle all the way around until the top of the egg shell pops off!! So far 15 have hatched out of 24!
They are now 3 days old and so far only 1 has died, but another one isn't looking to chipper!

These are 2 from the first batch of eggs he tried, now about 21 days old. We found out that adding a little oxygen helps and we had alot better hatch rate. Also, he had to get a rooster that was doing his job better. The old one got put out to pasture with the cow and goat!
Yep, fun times on the Crosby Farm!!

Dad's latest project

LaVerl has been a busy boy! We decided that we really love our grandchildren and don't want them falling off the patio at Roosevelt, so LaVerl has been building a fence to put up. He made it all himself out of 2x4's and re bar. The first 2 sections he built at Roosevelt and put them up. The next sections he made in his shop at home and he hauled them there and put them up! He had to dig the holes and pour in some concert for the posts, wait a day for that to dry, then he set the sections of fence in the brackets. More was involved, but LOTS OF WORK! Here's putting the fence together! He had to pre-drill all the holes, then put the re bar in to both the top and bottom piece. This is after he cut and painted all the re bar!
Painting all the re bar made a big mess!

This is the fence after its all put together.
Here's LaVerl at Roosevelt, varnishing and sealing the wood. Doesn't it look nice? He worked hard in that heat, but he sure enjoys his little projects!

Look out! I'm now a licensed physician!

So my medical license came in the mail this week, making me a licensed physician, in the state of.....Wisconsin. Why Wisconsin you say? Because since I'm a federal employee, they don't care which state I'm licensed in and Wisconsin is one of the easiest and cheapest to apply for.

4th of July in Eagar!!

As most of you know, the 4th of July Parade is a pretty big deal in Eagar, people start saving their spot to sit about a week in advance. The main street in lined with chairs and pickup trucks, trailers, etc to save a spot to sit and watch the big event. It just tells you that not much exciting happens in Eagar! Somehow Uncle Rick managed to get all of us a great spot right in front of the old Rock Eagar Post Office! This spot wasn't reserved for some reason!
Good ol' Uncle Rick! Him and Paula were camping up at Milligan and they had a few of their kids come for a little family reunion. They invited us up one night to eat Navajo Tacos with them! Yummy! Paula is amazing!!
Marcie had her little family all decked out in red, white and blue. Phillip and Isaac had a blast running for all the candy that was thrown! I still miss the water balloons that used to go flying off the floats and the fire trucks spewing water on everyone!
Jesse and Erica camped at Milligan in a really nice camper trailer!
All these little boy cousins had a ball together!!

The parade had its usual horses, wagons, tractors, floats and cowboys!
We thought this little barrel train was really cute! I told LaVerl to start finding some barrels so we could make one for the grand kids!! It was being pulled with a 4-wheeler!

They saved the 'best for last' as this was about the last thing in the parade. This Statue of Liberty was absolutely beautiful and was so tall it wouldn't go under the wires at the main intersection. We watched as they had to bend her to get her under the wires.

Then to our horror, we watched as she started to crumple and fall backwards! I thought it was because they had bent her getting under the wires.
I felt so sad to see her fallen over, I clapped and cried as she went by, thinking how sad that others wouldn't see her standing so tall and beautiful and proud as she went by. Then as we watched, she slowing started raising back up to her full height, standing proud once again! We were profoundly affected as we noted the symbolism I'm sure the builder wanted us to recognize.

More 4th of July pictures....

We were looking for something to do, so for the first time in 25 years while living in Eagar, we went to Sunrise Ski Resort and rode the lift up to the top of the ski run. It was beautiful weather in Eagar, but when we got up to Sunrise, it was raining! We got some lovely green trash bags to keep us dry, and up we went! J'net & I both had on flip flops!
We had heard the cost was $3 a person, but when we got there they told us it was $10 a person. We debated, but decided to go, afterall, you only live once! To get our monies worth, we rode it twice! The second time, it wasn't raining and the scenery was well worth the money.

This is the view from up on top, looking down at the parking lot, etc.

J'net bribed the indian lady working on top with some really good kettle corn they'd bought for 2 trash bags. What a deal!

Oh yes, we looked lovely, but they really did help keep us warm and dry! What a fun day we had! There were people from Romania there and they were so impressed with the beauty of the White Mountains!

Lisa & Barry's Reception in Eagar!

JUNE 27TH, 2009 YES, I'M LATE POSTING Lisa and Barry had a beautiful reception in Eagar, everything was decorated really cute, the weather was perfect, the Mexican food was good, we just needed a few more people to show up!! We missed having all the family members come!!
It looked the best after it got dark, we had candles lit on all the tables, the video showed up better, and the overhead lights looked really good.

This was the sign in table and picture table! Her lemon and lime
color scheme was really summery and cute!

We sat up tables and chairs for 50 people!
It was a lovely reception, we all had a great time!

My Talented Girlfriend!

Natali's sister Dana got married in June and Natali is an incredible photographer. She has been doing it since high school and now works for the Daily Universe taking pictures for them (that's the BYU newspaper for those who don't know). So she took Dana's engagement pics and here are a few of the stunning bridals that she took and edited. She is amazing as you can tell. So I just wanted to show everyone one of her outstanding talents. Ya I'm a pretty lucky guy to be with such a talented, great, fun, pretty girl!

When Natali's mom was showing these to other people everyone was asking her how much they paid for such beautiful pictures. They were shocked to find out that she didn't pay anything for them. So I think that between my modeling and Natali's photography we will always be able to make some really good side money.
