More February events....

The BIG event of the month was Tami & Ryne getting baby Colter Ryne Peters here!  He arrived on WED. Feb. 20th around 9am in Show Low, AZ.  Because I was SICK, I was no help at all! I couldn't watch Blake, I couldn't be there for support, nothing! I felt useless!

This is his very first picture! Minutes old!

A few days old, look at that cute little face! I could
'look', but not 'touch'! Everyone was getting to hold him
except this Gma!! It was agony!

Blake LOVES him! He is so adorable with him!
He talks in this little high voice to him and rubs his
cheek against the top of his head.
Even Uncle Chad gets to love on him! (Thank you Lisa for the pics you took!)

Auntie Lisa got here on Thursday and was able to help Tami so much! She tried to leave on Sunday, but we got a big snow storm and her car was stuck down in their driveway.

Gpa holding #11 grandbaby! Welcome to the family little one!

Well I am on the mend, feeling much better! The sun is out, it looks like Winter Wonderland!

February events...

I've missed posting things because I've been SICK for the last week! Life is not fun when one is sick! Dad wasn't doing to well either! Remember the post about Roosevelt and all the work we did there? Well, Dad had gotten a sliver in his finger and at the time we didn't think much of it. I thought I pulled something out and he was back working. We got home and he had a house to wire, but his finger was still hurting and thinking something was still in there, he would dig around on his finger every night. By Friday it was so swollen and hurting him so bad he came home from work early. I wanted to take him to the Dr. then, but he just wanted to rest it and soak it some more. Sat. we woke up to snow, and we had a funeral to attend, but after we headed to Show Low to the Urgent Care. They x-rayed it, found a little tiny piece of 'something' about an inch away from where he'd been digging! They 'deadened' his poor, swollen, red and intensely painful finger and began digging some more. It was awful to watch, they made the hole bigger and removed more flesh, trying to make a 'pathway' for the object to find its way out. Poor Dad, he was in so much pain, the pain Rx helped, but not a lot. He just finished the antibiotic, but his finger still hurts and is still swollen!

So after 3 weeks, its still bandaged and painful. Lesson learned: Get the sliver out while you can! Before you have to spend $200, before it swells up to 3 times its original size, before you can't work for a month!!

So while Dad was home taking care of his finger, I headed to Mesa to watch Bret & Becki's kids while they took a vacation to the Cayman Islands for a week. We didn't do a whole lot because they were all sick part of the time. Because I NEVER get sick, I wasn't to worried about getting sick, but I should've been!
Bath time was fun as long as there were LOTS of bubbles!
Dempsey is such a little sweetie, she's a love bug and an adorable
little baby girl.
It was fun making Valentine's with them. London
is such a little character! She was good to help her
Gma find where everything was kept.

This is "Fence". He is also a character. In the evenings after the kids were in bed, he'd come sit on the sofa with me and wait for his brushing.

On an early release day, we all headed to the park. It was sunny and warm and they were all feeling good. I was pushing Dempsey in her stroller, London was on her little bike and Kingston was walking. About 1/2 block from the park Kingston heard the sounds of boys playing, and he started running. He ran right down to where this group of boys had a game going. It was something with guns and zombies. See the little boy in the red shirt and white shorts? He turned out to be 'my answer to prayers'!

London just rode around on her little bike, there was a couple of little girls there, but she could care less if they played with her!
Dempsey was just happy following her big sis around!

Kingston followed the gang of boys around for awhile with no one taking much notice of him. He wanted to play with them so bad, I just kept saying a little prayer that one of those boys would ask him to play. Later, when I looked down to where they all were I noticed one little boy was talking to Kingston. He had his arm around him and he was handing him a gun! I just sat there on that park bench and cried, so thankful that there was a boy in that group who had noticed another little boy who wanted to join in the fun.

On Valentine's Day -LaVerl sent me flowers and chocolate!
What a surprise! I looked out on the porch and there was a box
for me! Inside were these beautiful daisies, my favorite flower and a little box of really yummy chocolates! I think LaVerl was missing me!

A February Project....at Roosevelt

Barry & Dad have been talking about building a permanent boat shed at our place at Roosevelt. Barry's beautiful boat is often neglected, the cover will have come off, or its full of water, plus the sun is taking it toll on the upholstery. So they made plans to give the boat a better home. Here's a ton a pics to show everything that was done last week. Dad hired Antonio, a builder who figured out all the plans and the materials needed. He brought his helper, Victor, and they got started early Thursday morning. Dad hauled his skidster down and did most of the dirt moving. I took a lot of pictures to show the progress.
They measured out 14 feet and started moving dirt.

Where did all the dirt go? Well, I wasn't to excited
to see it end up along side of the road.

Next, the eve had to be cut off, flush with the wall.

LOTS OF DIRT & ROCKS!

Sawing off the over hang.

It wasn't long before they ran into problems!  They
found out that there was an old retaining wall under
the road. It was a huge concert wall with a big
footing under it. Dad's little skidster just couldn't
budge those monster pieces, so they had to go find
a guy with a backhoe to do the job.

This piece was as big as our wave runner!

The roof without the over hang and Antonio & Victor.

They also found an old culvert under the road, plus
the sewer line!  So glad they didn't break that open!

The guy moving all the huge stuff!

Finally they got it all dug out. They had to cut
into a lot of the bank to make it big enough.
Of course they had to have some more troubles. The back hoe, just as he was about done, grabbed the water line and broke it!
So here's the footings dug, ready for the concert to be poured.
Friday they waited and waited for the materials
to come. By the afternoon and they still weren't
there, they left for home. We continued waiting!
They finally arrived about 5pm!

250 cinder block for the new retaining wall.

Antonio & Victor are heading back down tomorrow
morning to work. I wish I was there to take more
pictures of the project. The next ones will probably
be of the finished boat shed.
