LaVerl has shoulder surgery!

JUNE 19TH, early Monday morning we drove to Show Low so LaVerl could get his shoulder operated on!  He had an MRI done earlier that showed he had a torn rotator cuff and that surgery was the only way it would get better. He wasn't able to hardly lift his right arm up anymore and it was hurting him pretty bad!
We had to be at the surgery center at 6:00am.
Even without any hair, they made him wear this funny cap!

Look at that good blood pressure!

The anesthesiologist came in and he gave LaVerl something in his IV that pretty much knocked him out. Then with the help of an ultra-sound machine, he found a special nerve that he injected something that numbed Dad's whole arm--for 48 hours!  It also numbed his vocal cords, he couldn't hardly talk until later that night! Dr. Reagan came in shortly after and Dad asked him if he had a good nights sleep, but he doesn't even remember that!

Dr. Reagan said everything went good in the surgery. He said LaVerl had a torn bicep muscle that couldn't be attached because it had happened so long ago and had lots of scar tissue.
LaVerl went into surgery at 7:30am and was out about 9:20.
He was in recovery for another hour, then we headed home. We were home by noon!!  Isn't that amazing?

Day 3,  after keeping ice on it for 72 hours,  I took off the big padded bandage. All he has is four, maybe five little cuts in his shoulder where they did the arthroscopic procedure. The purple lines I think are markers. He will have the stitches removed at his next post-op appointment on July 6th. He is doing pretty good, hasn't been in too much pain, he still gets out and waters and works in his gardens a little.  Sitting around is pretty hard for him!!

Tucson FUN!! JUNE 9th & 10th!!

We have been planning this Crosby sibling retreat for months now, but still unexpected things happened so that not everyone could come!  Bryan had a brother die and his funeral was this same weekend.  Mary was in Oregon with her daughter who is having #5 baby and grandkids in plays etc. Life happens! So those of us that could come had a great time!
We picked Dave up at the airport, then checked into our rooms.
After Rick & Paula arrived, we went to Texas Roadhouse to eat!

After stuffing ourselves with steak and shrimp and bread and potatoes, we headed to the Gaslight Theatre to watch
'SPIDER-GUY'!

Oh boy!  I couldn't help myself!!  This was a small hot fudge sundae!!

We just love it when Linda Ackerman is the piano player!  She is so talented! The whole cast of Spider-Guy was all our favorites!

Saturday morning we went to the new Tucson Temple open house. I met this nice gal, Maggie Camp, a non-member that came and she stayed with our group through the whole tour. It made our tour so much more meaningful being able to share our beliefs with someone!

Kevin also came with his girlfriend who is a non-member!

Again with the good food!  We ate at a place Rick was told was good.  Rigo's Mexican food.

We left Tucson around 3pm and had 5 hour drive home. It was quick, but it was FUN!  Its so worth our time to spend it with family that we don't get to see that often!

MY DAD'S 90th BIRTHDAY PARTY!!

I'm such a lucky girl, I still have my parents on this earth!  We just celebrated my Dad turning 90 years old!!  His birthday isn't until June 6th, we celebrated early! We decided we would throw him a little "Roast and Toast" party and he was afraid he was mostly going to get 'toasted', but everyone just had good things to say about him. It was mostly just for family, Curt was working, but most everyone came. We told all kinds of memories we had of him, we laughed, we cried, we had a great time. Mom even got up and shared some stories, it was the highlight of the program!
(Hi little Wembley in the back!)
Chad & Luann drove from Snowflake that day and then drove home afterward!
Marks family drove from El Paso, TX
Sonja & Randy set up all the sound system and basically ran the whole program. Curt and Boyd had to come without their families, and Justin and Carli came with their kids.

Lots of great-grandkids there! It was pretty wild at times!

...but they sure are cute!!

Mark & Daxxon, this is my #16 and only the second time I've seen him.  He's an adorable little chunk!

After all the good food, out comes the cake!!

(Hi little Dempsey & Colter in the back!)

Kari drove from Flagstaff by herself and 3 boys!  They are flying to Provo on Sunday with Tami and her 2 boys to spend a week!

Dad wanted to invite Dick & Sharon Enlow, they have done so much family history on the Dawes line!

After the program, it was pool time, the kids and their parents had a great time cooling off in the pool and playing with their kids!

I can't tell who's standing on their head??

Moms-- Lisa, Holly, Carli and Kari watching their kiddos.

"Mom, I don't know which shoes are mine?"

 Mark or Bret? Hmmm?

I think it was a success.  Lots of family came to honor Dad and tell him how much they love and appreciate him for all he has done for all of us. Like I said, I am one lucky girl to have such a great family.  This could not have happened without Sonja & Randy, it was a joint effort to make it happen!!
