Conference Weekend- Good.... and Bad Times....

Saturday morning all the cousins woke up excited to get playing. They asked Uncle Bret to take them on a train ride and 6 of them loaded into the little train behind the 4-wheeler, with Leo and Elijah getting in the caboose. Bret still doesn't know exactly what happened, he said he was going slow!  Somehow while turning, the train tipped over with all 3 trains and all 6 kids going over! Leo and Elijah, being in the caboose were hurt the worst!  Oh, sad day!  Bret was just sick, he felt so bad! Elijah face was just scraped up and we had to rinse rocks out of his mouth, but Leo had a little split on his cheek that was gaped open enough to need a few stitches.

First they put on a clear like bandaid that covered his cheek which had lidocaine in it to deaden the the pain. We waited so long that Leo fell asleep on his mommy.

Finally it was time for Leo to get his stitches. He was not happy about being bundled up like a burrito and held down by 2 nurses and Kari.

Elijah faired much better!

The Dr. put in 3 stitches that will dissolve, so thank goodness he doesn't have to go back and take them out! Poor little guy!!

As sad as they look, they were both playing and laughing later!

During conference breaks, we had a little work project going.
I've been wanting the wood pile stacked for years!! With Bret's help and all the grandkids working, we stacked about 6 cords of wood!

While we were stacking, the kids were taking all the littler wood pieces, putting them in the wheel barrow, then Bret would take it into the garage and the kids would stack it in there.  Such good little workers!

I think LaVerl was remembering the days before his shoulder surgery when he could split wood like Bret.

Sunday Kari did a really cute thing to get the kids to listen to conference. She had bowls of different things like cheerios, M&M's, nuts, pretzels, etc and each bowl was labeled with a word like,  Jesus, Temple, Family, etc.  When they heard that word, they could take one treat to put in their bag and one to eat. They all listened really good!!

Chad and Luann came over from Snowflake. I made the traditional, had to have, cinnamon rolls.

Later for lunch, Lisa and I made a really yummy pizza for everyone! It had roasted red peppers, marinaded grilled chicken, feta and mozzarella cheese and then after it was baked, we poured a  reduction of a soy sauce & brown sugar over it!!

The second session of Conference! Tami said this by Pres. Utchdorf when the pictures were posted!! "I'm pretty sure that church sleep is among the healthiest of all sleeps!"
Lisa took this picture of Bret and Dad in almost the exact position! Like father like son!
Bret said that two could play at this game! He took this picture of Lisa!

It was really great having some of the kids home over the weekend. We are so blessed to have a prophet and apostles to teach us the important things we need to be doing to help us be better and do better!! It was sad news to learn of Robert D. Hales death that happened that morning. He will be missed.

September happenings....

Dad & I were asked to man a booth at the Apache County Fair. Zola Whiting and Kay Hauser spent many hours re-typing an out of date book called "Lest Ye Forget" because its been out of print since 1980 and many people were asking how to get a copy of it.  Melvin Crosby had many stories the he submitted to the book, so we felt privileged to spend our time at the fair selling the new book.
LaVerl mostly manned the booth. Lisa & Lilly came to the fair too, so I spent my time watching Lilly enjoy her first experience on all the rides at the fair.

We ate fair food, walked around all the exhibits, visited with people we never see, and had a great time. Lilly's favorite was seeing all the animals- the ducks and chickens, the goats and sheep and all the cows...or it could've been  eating homemade ice cream!

So Lisa's house is being remolded, which is taking much longer than she was told. She spent a week with us with Lilly, so fun to get to know this darling little girl.

While she was home she invited a few of her high school friends over for breakfast. Ashley Nicoll, Heidi Clonts, Sterling Wiltbank and Rylee Davis came with there kiddos that weren't in school.

Also while Lisa was here, the Peters family came to Eagar. Ryne had his little niece, Kinsey Crick getting baptized and his sister wanted him there. We were so excited to get to see little Adlee again, babies change so fast.
She is smiling now and keeps getting more precious!
...and these two older brothers are pretty crazy about her!

To make the long 9 1/2 hour trip more enjoyable with 3 little kids, they rented a van, plus they stayed in Bluff on the way at a really nice house they found online, like a B & B. They had it all to themselves and it worked out great.

Then Bret needed me to watch his kids a couple of days while he was out of town working and Becki had a 'sister and Mom' activity planned in Portland, OR. and Lisa needed to get back to her house to check on things, so we were off to Queen Creek.
Ivory got a hold of my phone and took a bunch of pictures.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I saw this picture of me on my phone!!

And their cat Fritz is so funny, I would find him in the weirdest places!

When I went back to Eagar on Friday, I took Lilly with me. I had her for a week, she even started calling me and LaVerl, 'mommy & daddy'.  This girl can eat two apples a day!!

She helped me put up all my Halloween decorations. She loved to play with the cat, the witch and the pumpkin, all at the same time.

We had a great rainstorm that turned into hail!
