AUGUST POSTS-----My Sweet, Wonderful Daddy died!! AUG 22,2022

On August 22, 2022 my Daddy died.
Sonja & Randy and LaVerl & I had been at BYU Education Week when we got a call on Friday, the last day, from my brother Curt that Daddy wasn't doing too well and in the hospital. We had seen him in June for his birthday and Father's Day and he'd been pretty sick then, but we all thought he was getting better.  On Saturday, they sent him home with hospice care. I thought I had a week at least to get to Mesa to see him, but he died on Monday.

Mom, Sonja, Sherry and I got to go to the funeral home and dress Dad in his temple clothes. It was a VERY SAD DAY!!

Of course Dad didn't really look like 'Dad', but still it was nice to say goodbye, one last time for all of us.

People are so NICE! Mom got sent LOTS of flowers and beautiful, thoughtful cards.

The funeral was on SEPT 8th, 2022
Dad was cremated, so we could wait awhile to have his funeral.
We picked a Thursday so Curt could take off work and come from California, but it ended up he couldn't come anyway. Sonja and I planned it all with Mommy. We went through lots of old pictures, got the program ready and Justin printed it. We made all the arrangements, did lots of crying and kept Mommy company. The funeral was really nice, the songs Shane and Boyd sang were beautiful and somehow Sonja and I got through our talks. The Ward put on a wonderful luncheon afterwards for our family.

The great grandkids that were there, sang "I am a Child of God"
I gave Dad's life story and Sonja did the spiritual talk. She sang
"Oh My Papa" and that was really hard for her.
Boyd sang, "Why Me Lord?" & Shane sang, "Oh Lord My Redeemer"
