Visitors and apples!

I didn't get to finish posting these pictures, so here are some more apple related pictures. I thought it would be fun for my Mom & Dad to come to Eagar to watch LaVerl in full apple mode. Then for some reason I thought Mom would enjoy making some apple-sauce, which I think she would've if we'd gotten started earlier in the day. I also invited my sister Sonja to come and join us.

Here they are watching LaVerl press apples. They thought is was pretty awesome and loved the cider. 

We finally got started making applesauce after 3pm. We did
3 pressure cookers full of apples, so Sonja got 15 qts and 5 pints and Mom only wanted 9 1/2 pints. What was supposed to be fun turned out to be a lot of work, Mom & Dad were in bed by 8pm!

Over conference weekend LaVerl's sister was here and she wanted to make some applesauce, so I decided to invite some of our friends who have never made applesauce to come too. They also learned how to make apple pie filling. It was fun!

We had some more visitors, Bret came and brought London and Kingston to watch Gramps press some apples.

Bret thought it would be fun to dunk his head all the way the cold water to show Kingston how to 'bob for apples'!

Kingston was a little smarter. He just grabbed one and stuck it in his mouth, without getting all wet!

Bret was reliving his childhood. He used to have to do this job when he was a child barely big enough to reach!

Dad grew lots of pumpkins this year in the garden, they were
just all really small. I've been giving lots away! The few big ones grew in the green house.

More Apples...

LaVerl has been making lots of apple cider with his little apple

press! He's been a busy boy, he's pressed over 1500 gallons!

People will bring their apples over and he will make them into

cider for them. I will show you the whole process!  First you 

pick the apples, then you....

.... wash 'em, wash 'em, wash 'em
wash 'em, wash 'em!

Then you scoop 'em, scoop'em .....

...into the chopper that chops 'em, chops 'em
chops 'em, chops 'em!

Then with his little hydraulic press that runs off
the tractor, he presses, presses, presses, presses!

Then out flows all the juice! Yummy, yummy,
yummy-yummy-yummy!

Then we fill any container we can find and freeze it for
later, when we drink it, drink it, drink it- drink it- drink it!!

This is what's left! The cow has been enjoying it! He has
also put lots on our garden for mulch!

So that's the process of making cider. Dad's been
really enjoying meeting lots of new people and
also getting to take juice around to friends!

Bolden's first haircut

Friday Bolden turned 18 months and Holly finally let me give him his first haircut...a mohawk!

The other boys wanted mohawks too, so Friday night and all day Saturday they got to have them.

Then came the pre-church buzz and bath. 

Three, handsome boys with haircuts like dad's.
