My Mommy turns 101!!

 It's just amazing to me that my Mommy is 101 years old!! Her birthday was July 21st. She is doing pretty good- well, she lost a hearing aid, so now her hearing is even worse, her eyesight isn't great, she is now on oxygen 24/7 and its getting harder for her to get up from her chair and she only walks with her walker. But she can carry on a good conversation with you if she can understand what you are saying and she knows who I am!!!

Sonja and I took her to lunch and she loved her cheese enchiladas! They brought her fried ice cream, put a sombrero on her and sang "Happy Birthday" to her!

Other happenings.....I do believe that BAD things happen in 3's.

1-Coming home from Mesa last week, a turkey hen ran right in front of me and I couldn't brake fast enough and hit it!!  I was shocked to see the front of my car!!  Stupid turkey! It even bent my hood!!

2-Then I had a dead tree fall over. Luckily it didn't fall on my shed or my shop, but went into another tree!! It didn't look dead because it had some beautiful Virginia creeper growing in it.

Randell had to come and chain saw it all down!

A week later the young men needed a service project, so they came and cleaned it all up for me!

When they were done we had S'mores and they did the zip line!

3- the 'Damn' elk came in the night and trampled all over my new grass, in the front and back yards, that was very wet and made huge holes with their hooves. It took me 2 hours to fill them in!!

Lawson is now over 3 months old and just keeps getting cuter!

The 4th of July celebrations!

The 4th of July was BIG this year, being our 250 years of Independence! Our parade was bigger than ever, along with our fireworks. It's a fun time of the year for the kids to come home! However, only Chad & Luann, Lisa's family, Kari's family and only Tami's 3 kids were able to come this year. 

We started Saturday the 4th, off with a flag raising at my house and a little flag etiquette and quiz.

I had put out chairs a few days early to save our spot! Luckily, Chad and Luann got there way before us to ensure we still had it. The kids still like their buckets we made and they got so much candy, each kid ended up with their buckets full!

Lisa fixed all the girls up with cute stars and sparkles!

All the Wards did a float which makes the parade really great, and our Ward, Milligan Valley, won "Best Entry, Judges choice!"Steve and Colleen Nicoll were in charge of our Wards float and it was so well done! At the back was Dorothy Boone portraying Betsy Ross with the flag and Nolan Smith portraying George Washington!

The trailer hauling this Liberty Bell for Amity Ward, is LaVerl's dump trailer!

The town of Eagar had the best float I thought. Eric Goodman, my friend Arina Mortenson and others all helped. It was Paul Revere on his horse, that actually moved up and down!

After parade FUN! 

The kids love to dump out all their candy and look at it!

Its hard to keep the little kids off their iPads!

Kari took the boys down to Dollar General and bought some craft supplies and they painted pictures!

Kirk taught them the strategy behind playing "Risk". 

Adlee loved holding baby Lawson.

Chad and Luann, J'net and Bryan and I all played card games.

The kids had fun on the trampoline.

About dark, Barry had brought some really good fireworks we lit here at the house. They were so good, the police came to investigate! A neighbor had reported that we were letting off fireworks. We told the police, none of them were aerial, all on the ground and that was permitted.  I wonder which neighbor?? 

Later we all went to watch the fireworks. The kids had a good view on top of Kari's suburban! They started a half hour late because someone had to be air-evacuated out and the fireworks are lit at the airport!

Well, that about does it for our 4th of July celebrations! It was wonderful spending time together!

July 8th, Lawson turns 3 months old! He's now a quarter of a year old!
