Chad & Luann go GREEN!

Chad & Luann decided it was time to do something about their yard! They had a sprinkler system already installed when she bought the house, but no grass, just a lot of weeds. We came over to help pull weeds and rototill! It was a big job, lots of work!

The big field grass growing against the side walk was tough to dig out!
LaVerl went over it two times with his rototiller, once one direction, then the other.

Chad hauled lots of wheel barrows full of rocks and weeds away!
Luann and I dug around trying to find all the sprinkler heads
They worked hard, leveling, removing rocks and continually pulling the weeds that kept growing back! They are going to extend the sidewalk to make it bigger, and put in another one down the middle that leads to the front door!

Dad did a lot of weed eating around the rest of their yard.
Then the fun part, laying the sod!!

Lots of people came to help!  A couple of their neighbors, other friends from the Ward and the missionaries!
It went down FAST with all the help, they were done in less than an hour!!
 WOW!! So cool, instant lawn!!!
They had quite a bit of sod left over, and wanted to give it to their neighbor who has helped them out so much and has offered to pour the sidewalk for only the cost of the cement!

The happy couple, at last they have green grass!!
The missionaries were great help, I thought it was funny, the littlest one pushing the heavy roller and the other one with the hose!!

Afterward, they fed us hot dogs and we had a wonderful visit with Luann's parents, Jim and Kathie Maner! Such great people!
Now Chad will have to learn to mow a lawn and take care of it!

My Mom's 90th CELEBRATION.....

My Mom turned 90 years old this month and we decided we'd throw her a PARTY!! My sweet daughter Lisa put her heart and soul into planning it and worked hard to make it extra special for her Nanna, that she loves dearly! Without her making the video and Becki helping with the decorations, and my sister Sonja and her talented family, this would never had been a success!! It was a wonderful day and I think Mom was pleased to see all her family gathered around her to celebrate her amazing life!

Our family also got to together for some fun the day before the party. We didn't want Mom/Nanna to know we were in town, so we hid out until the party on Sat. We all got together at a water park where we played all day in the sun. Mark & Holly, Chad & Luann, Bret & Becki, Lisa, Reed, Tami & Ryne, and all the grandkids came. We had a beautiful, cloudy day that was just perfect!!

Uncle Reed was a hit with the kids, he played and played with them! He and LaVerl got really sunburned!!

Even the babies, Wembly and Ivory loved it!

Chad was smart and kept his t-shirt on so he didn't get burned!

They all played and played and at the end of the day, they were tired and Ivory was out!

Saturday morning early, Lisa, Becki, Tami and I were decorating!! We pretty much took everything cute from Becki's house, we raided her garage full of wonderful decorations and hauled them all over to the clubhouse. Lisa and Becki had stayed up until after 1am on Friday making the cute banners.

How silly, this is a 'before' picture and I didn't get an 'after' picture!
It was decorated really cute!

The finished product! We also decorated a "photo booth" room with a couch and props so we could take fun pictures!

We are looking at the cake table, before it was finished, which also turned out really cute, but alas, no picture!!

LaVerl came and brought the ladder and stayed to help too!
 Ahh, a 'finished' picture!!

Lisa wanted Nanna to have a SPECIAL birthday cake and had this made for her!! It was beautiful and delicious!! The top was strawberry and the bottom was salted carmel!! YUMMY!! Each tier had about 5 layers of scrumptious delight!
All of us waiting for the guest of honor to appear!! It was funny when my cousin Kathy and Uncle Darold & Aunt Nita walked in and we all started singing "Happy Birthday"!  Mom arrived a few minutes later with her other sister Hilda and Paul & cousinVicky!
They were the chauffeurs and made sure they got there!

My beautiful MOM, the guest of honor!!
We all ate and visited! It was so great that my Moms sisters, Hilda and Nita could come! Also my cousins, Vicky (and her husband Paul) and Kathy! Why didn't I get pictures of them????

We all sang "Happy Birthday" again.  (There's Paul & Vicky on the side!!)

Sharon Enlow made this amazing family genealogy chart for Mom!
Ryne, Tami and boys flew in from Provo, so glad they could come!
My wonderful parents- Don & Lillian Dawes
A 4-generation picture! Holly was taking better pictures with her camera, so there are more and better ones to come!
Becki & Bret

Lisa with her Nanna & Pompa
Reed & his Nanna- he came from Dallas, TX
Chad & Luann- they had just flown back from a trip to Palmyra, New York with her parents the day before!
Tami & Lisa with their Pomp!

Me and my twin sis, Sherry with our parents!!

Without Sonja's family there wouldn't have been a program! Sonja was the emcee, and Randy, Boyd and Shane were the entertainment! They are all SO TALENTED~

IT WAS A WONDERFUL DAY!! I am so happy to still have my Mom & Dad around so we could celebrate her 90th birthday!!
