Cruise Day 6- GRAND TURK

THURSDAY NOV. 16th

Everyone had told us how beautiful Grand Turk was, so we couldn't wait to go exploring. 

On Grand Turk we found some golf carts to rent for the day. We doubled up, so they were only $48 a couple!

We had fun driving all over. We were actually looking for a nice beach and couldn't find a road that led to one. We did plenty of exploring and really got to see lots of the island. We saw some beautiful flowers and...

...lots of donkeys. Everywhere. They just run loose I guess, like dogs! We also saw lots of devastation from hurricane Irma. Trees were still down on some of the back roads, houses torn up and roofs and fences down. Lots of trash everywhere, power lines down & no power and lots of empty houses. Then, the worst part, we were getting eaten up by mosquitos every time we stopped!!

We did finally find a beach! We were the only ones there!

And we found LOTS of beautiful shells!! So many we couldn't take them all home!  They were just on the beach waiting for us to find them! 

The water was nice and warm too! The boys went snorkeling again, the girls got some sun and we found a little place to have some lunch before returning to the boat. 

Once back at the port, we found that most of the people had just went to the beach right at the port. Well, they missed out on seeing all the rest of the island!

Back on board for our final day at sea!!

Cruise Day 5- AMBER COVE, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

WEDNESDAY  NOV. 15th
After being at sea all day and all night, it was good to see land!!
We arrived in Amber Cove early and got ready to go ashore!  

Getting off the boat was saw some guys putting these things on the ropes. We wouldn't have know what they are, but we saw their truck-"Rat Patrol". I guess these guards keep the rats from getting on the ship!!

We forgot to make arrangements with each other what time we were getting off the boat, so Chad got off really early. He made good use of his time waiting for us!

We had pre-arranged to go to Damajague, the place of 27 Waterfalls! A bus picked us and drove us about 25 miles. The cost was about $60 each, but then we always have to tip our guides! Not bad for the adventure of a life-time!! So Amazing!!

We bought the 'jump drive' our guide took of all the pictures.  It was SO awesome! We hiked a couple of miles up a beautiful little trail, then once to the water, we followed the stream and the first thing we had to do was JUMP into a pool about 12 feet down. We continued down stream, sliding down natural rock water slides, and more jumping. The highest jump was at least 20 feet! It was scary, but we all did it. (Well, Becki went around). I have huge bruises to prove how much fun it was!!! 

This was just a sampling of all the pictures we took that day! It was so beautiful and wondrous!! What a day!

Amber Cove was named for all the natural amber found on the island! Lots of critters and insects found preserved in the amber, just like Jurassic Park!!
