Our little LUCY has to have surgery!

On Sunday, January 10th, I headed to Lisa's house so I could watch some of her kids so she could be at the hospital with Lucy. Since birth Lucy has had some problems- she tended to get UTI's and her urine smelled strong sometimes. Lisa would ask her pediatricians about it and finally he sent her to a urologist. They ran some tests and found out she had VUR and that on a grade of 1-5 she was 4.5, they even thought her kidneys had scar tissue from this. VUR stands for Vesicoureteral Reflux which means urine flows backward from the bladder into the ureter and can cause the ureter and kidney to swell. The Dr. told Lisa that this defect is usually found when the sonograms are done and can be fixed then. Lisa had to tell them that Lucy was adopted and the birth mother never was told anything was wrong.

Lucy and Lisa left for Phoenix Children's Hospital early Monday morning, like 4:30am! Lucy was a little champ and handled all the needles and poking really well. She was in surgery about 3 hours.

It was pretty rough coming out of anesthesia.

By the next day she was already doing so much better.

When the Dr. got inside her, he said it was more complicated than they thought and ended up having to put a stent in.

The line is the stent going from her bladder through her ureter to her kidney. She will have to go back in a few weeks and have it taken out.

January 2021 A NEW YEAR! New and improved!!

Wow, its a New Year! We've made a few NEW improvements too! First- we ordered some really cool decals for our Cornhole game!

We paid Bill Greenwood to make us a set last year and paid him $100! We used them just painted white and they got our bean bags sort of white with the paint rubbing off.

Then we found online a place that sells really cool decals!

Second-- LaVerl has really been wanting a bidet! (that's a fancy toilet that washes and dries you!) All he had to do was take off the old toilet seat and put the bidet on. Oh-- he had to also get a receptacle down by the toilet, which meant running power from one in our bedroom. Sure glad he's an electrician!

So--out with the old!

And in with the NEW! Its really cool. It lights up, the seat is heated, the water is warm, it washes and dries!

And it has a remote to control everything exactly like you want it!

JUST THINK OF ALL THE TOILET PAPER WE'LL SAVE!

CHRISTMAS TIME with FAMILY

We were lucky enough to have some of our kids come a spend a little time with us before Christmas. We did a lot of fun things together. I'm going to put them all in one big blog!

DEC 18th

Tami & family come from St. George. Ryne's parents had

Covid, so they got to stay with us!

DEC 19th

Lisa and her 3 kids arrive!

LaVerl took Ryne, Blake and Colter ice fishing! The ice on Big Lake was about a foot deep!

It was pretty COLD but they did catch 2 fish~

Colter spent a lot of time in the truck trying to keep warm~

DEC 20th

Sunday morning we made Reindeer pancakes!

DEC 21st

The kids decide to go to the River Walk Trail with the little ones.

Later the girls had a little dance party!

Landon went missing for awhile and Lisa found him inside Gpa's old 48 Dodge in the garage. He couldn't get the doors opened!

Adlee and Lilly played so good together and managed to find a little snow at our house!

The grand kids are always wanting to earn quarters for the gumball machine, so they like to do chores.

DEC 21st

Kari and her 4 boys arrive!

Right after dinner we all went to the "Live Nativity" at the Davis'.

It was also the night of the "Christmas Star". "For the first time in 800 years humans can witness when Jupiter and Saturn line up relatively close together from Earth's vantage point since March 4, 1226."
