Halloween Costumes

Alright family...As you all know, Halloween is coming up this weekend... So Natali and I want to challenge all of you to a Halloween costume competition. Natali saw in our blog that we had done this before and thought it looked fun. So prepare yourselves, we are putting some serious brain power into this ;-).

Reed Marries Natali Wyson- Oct 24, 2009

Reed married Natali Wyson in the St. George Temple this weekend! They make a beautiful couple. Natali was a gorgeous bride, her hair was beautiful and her dress was a amazing. All our family was able to come, which made everything just more special for us. Reed & Natali, we are all so happy for you!! This is Natali's family, Dan & Launa Wyson and their beautiful children. They are also ALL very talented, they can all sing and are very musical! They entertained us at the family dinner the night before!

Because Two People Fell in Love....

This is my Dad & Mom,, Don & Lillian Dawes. They met in Tillamook, Oregon and Dad fell in love at his first site of mom. They had 4 kids and I am one of them. I'm so lucky and blessed to have them as my parents. This is what they started...

LaVerl and I met at BYU and after a 4 year relationship, fell in love and got married in the Mesa Arizona Temple. He was from Eagar, AZ and my older sister, Sonja had already married a boy from Eagar! It was meant to be!

This is our oldest son Mark who met and fell in love with Holly Huish while attending ASU. They were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They now have 3 beautiful children, Kaemon, Milea and Zallen!

Our son Chad is not married yet, but who knows??? He is all the our grandkids MOST FAVORITE UNCLE!!

Our 3rd son Bret, fell in love with Becki Wright after meeting her while they were both counselors at EFY and they married in the Salt Lake Temple. They have given us 2 beautiful Grandbabies, Kingston and London!

Lisa, our oldest daughter fell in love with Barry Keime and they were married in the Mesa Temple in June! Our 3rd daughter to marry within the year!!

Our second daughter Kari met and fell in love with Kirk Kinsey while working at the MTC after her mission. They were married in the Los Angeles Temple last Nov.

Here is the most newly married couple!! Reed met Natali Wyson while attending BYU and they were just married in the St. George Temple!!

Our baby girl Tami married her high school sweetheart, Ryne Peters in May at the Mesa AZ Temple!

That's 4 weddings within a year and we feel so blessed that our children have found their eternal companions to share their lives with. Their spouses are such great additions to our family. So the tradition will continue--"Because Two People Fell in LOVE"......

Family Trip to San Diego

We all started arriving in San Diego on Friday evening, those that got there early got to eat dinner out, some chose Thai, some Mexican food. Mark & Holly had their house full, some of the kids slept in tents in their backyard, some in their living room, some of us at a motel. The plan for the next morning was to go to the San Diego Temple. Mark, Chad, Kari & Kirk got up really early and made the 6am session so that they could attend a free cross-training workout at a gym at 9am. Tami & Ryne also went to that. (She was so very sad she'd forgotten her recommend!)
The rest of us attended a later session and skipped the workout. Thank goodness, most were all so sore they couldn't walk the next day!!

We all ate to much, plus we were a little late getting to the game on time! Parking a half mile away, plus traffic didn't help!

It was great spending time together as Mark & Holly will be moving to Florida next week and time together will be lots less. We had lots of fun, Thanks Mark & Holly.

Blessing Zallen

What a fun weekend our family had in San Diego! We went to bless little Zallen Dawes Crosby! We got to do a few other fun things as well, like go to the beautiful San Diego Temple, eat good Mexican food in Old Town, and then..... watch BYU play football!!! Here are the proud parents!

Harvest Time

Its that time of year again when we reap the rewards of all our (Dad's actually) hard work over the summer! We've had a strange year, the rains came late, our corn could've been better, but I still froze about 10 quarts. We picked about a banana box of apples and I bottled about 28 qts. of pie filling. We have beautiful tomatoes in the green house, I've bottled about 10 qts so far. We've had some really nice raspberries, I've been freezing them for our smoothies!

Dad & I had to shuck all the corn by ourselves! We sure miss all our little helpers we used to have!!

Dad grew non-hybrid corn this year so we could save the seed and be able to replant it again next year!

Dad grew some great pumpkins & squash, lots of them, all kinds, colors, sizes and shapes!

We didn't get any giant size ones, since I tried to reuse the seeds from last year, which must have been hybrid, since they didn't produce. I just love all the weird, cool ones that I can decorate with! These are acorn squash, which are really delicous! Dad wants to try storing them down in the root cellar!

Dad also grew spaghetti squash, which we hope will store over the winter too. Lots of fun trying new things to grow!

These weird things are hubbard squash. Gpa Crosby said they used to live on them all winter, they stored them in the barn covered with hay, we're going to try the root cellar.
We always feel so blessed to be able to grow things in our garden and greenhouse and to eat what we grow!! HAPPY HARVEST!!

Julian

So Saturday we checked out a little town east of SD in the mountains called Julian. We visited this old mine that had a train that the kids loved. The kids also enjoyed pumping water from a well, panning for gold and cashing in their gold for Red Vines. Later we ate at Miner's Diner and got some pie at the famous Julian Pie Company. It was tasty...and we bought a frozen pie to share with all y'all that come for Zallen's blessing.

Turbo Time!!

So remember when Lisa, Tami, Mom and I used to do Tae Bo together in the living room and you all (meaning my dear brothers) would just watch and laugh? Well, laugh no more because I am now a certified Turbo Kickboxing instructor! When I moved to Provo 6 years ago I joined Gold's Gym and started taking the Turbo Kickboxing classes because they were a lot like Tae Bo and I soon became addicted. I have been wanting to get certified to teach it and just last week I took the written and practical exam (talk about nerve-racking! The girl just stood there and watched me do the different kicks and jabs and took notes on her little clipboard). It went from 9 am until 5:30 pm and believe it or not, they actually liked me and  certified me! Sooo, I can officially teach Turbo Kick anywhere in the world- get paid to work out! How cool is that! Zallen's Blessing

We are going to bless Zallen here in Chula Vista on Oct 18, 2009. Everyone is invited to come. I need to know especially from Bret/Becki, Barry/Lisa, Ryne/Tami if you guys are planning on coming and who is wanting to go to the BYU game the day before (3pm). For those wanting to go to the game, tickets range from $11 to $35 - any preferences?? Also, for those planning on coming, I'm going to have a full day planned on Saturday (possibilities are the temple, Free Crossfit workout, Mexican lunch in Oldtown, the game, dinner, dessert, etc), so it'd be best if you could be here by Friday night, that way we can fit in a full day of San Diego vacation on Saturday. If more people will be coming than we can put up in our house, I'll find out the best/closest local hotel. Let me know. Thanks. See ya'll soon.

LEGOLAND!

We're pretty lucky to live so close to so many cool attractions; SD Zoo, Seaworld and Legoland all within a half hour drive. We went to Legoland for the first time today and the kids loved it.

Everywhere you look there are people, animals and other things made purely out of legos. It's really quite amazing.

There was an entire area called Miniland that depicted miniturized cities, building, cars, etc that was pretty neat.

There were lots of rides. This is the only one that Milea cried on. Give Milea a little credit...this kiddie train was hauling booty.
