October News...

October started out with a bang! On Conference weekend WE GOT A NEW GRANDDAUGHTER! She came about 3 weeks early, so she had a few breathing problems, but otherwise perfect and beautiful. She is #12 grandchild!

She had a breathing tube and a feeding tube for awhile.

Finally, 12 days later, getting to take Ivory home!

 While Bret & Becki were having 'baby', this Gpa & Gma went to get the other grandkids. We were already heading to Roosevelt on Friday when Bret called, (to take the boat back and spend Conference weekend), so we dropped off the boat, then went on to Gilbert to get Kingston, London & Dempsey. We had to hurry back to Roosevelt to get there by 5pm, because the BYU game was starting. We had fun at Roosevelt with the kids. 

 They loved feeding all the quail.

Even though it was a little cool, they played in the water.

They played with all the old tinker-toys while watching movies.

It seemed like all I did was feed them.

They helped Gpa work so they could go on
the 4-wheeler with him.

Our friends, Tammy & Clifford Finch came and spent 1 night with us. The kids had been collecting rocks and Tammy told London that her rock looked like a cell phone, so she drew a screen and number buttons on it with a black marker. She called it a 'Flintstone Flip-phone'. Well they thought that was the greatest and started making phones out of every rock they found.

 They wanted to take these all home and sell them! I guess I should've let them try, but most of them didn't even look like phones!

 On Monday we came back to Eagar. The kids got to enjoy the beautiful Fall weather playing outside on the playground, exploring and finding 3 baby kittens in the woodpile, gathering the eggs with Gpa, and lots of other things. They went to the library for story time and got lots of books to read, they colored, they played with legos and barbies, and when Uncle Marks family came, things got really FUN! 

 They all loved riding the 4-wheeler, except Dempsey, she would run away once it started up. Cousins Kaemon, Milea, Zallen and Bolden got to spend the weekend too!

Even Blake and Colter got to come and play!

Of course making cookies & brownies is always part of the FUN!

So after 10 days of FUN, on Sunday we had to take them home. Mark's family headed back to El Paso and we headed to Mesa. 

Bret had a project that needed Dad's help, so we stayed the night and came home Monday. Bret now has lights in his back yard and a nice fan under his porch area.

We have had a BEAUTIFUL, rainy month! Everything is so green! We've gotten over 25 inches of rain so far in our 'monsoon season'. 

This was a double rainbow, it seemed right over our house .

Tami saw the same double rainbow and also took a picture!

 Dad wanted Cole to know that his horny toad is still alive and well. (Well, this might be the one Lisa caught, its hard to tell them apart!)

The week we were gone, I should've been taking care of our corn. It made me sad when I saw how over-ripe it all was!

Shucking corn is always more fun with lots of help!

Tami & I each got 20 quarts of corn to freeze. We worked all day!

Tami watches Davin until he goes to kindergarten 1/2 day. He had lots of fun helping with the corn and then going to feed the chickens on the 4-wheeler.

Then the green chilies came in. A friend brings them in from New Mexico and sells them. Dad brought home a 40# bag of the medium ones. I wasn't too happy about that, so Tami bought a bag of the mild ones and we mixed them. We sat in the garage and watched it rain. We each got 13 quart bags full.

Dad got ambitious and finished this little area of our walkway that was never finished because we ran out of pavers.

Also there was this little area that the sprinklers don't reach, so he put some square pavers there. Oh, and notice all the new railroad ties making the borders. Dad almost got a hernia carrying these things!! 

Football season has started!! GO COUGARS!

Our little trip to Tucson....FUN!

After such a BUSY July, Dad wanted us to take a little break and get away for a few days. We decided it would be fun to go to Tucson, we've never really been there before and heard it was fun. Rick & Paula told us about a really NICE place they stay at, and they had their summer rates going on, so that's where we went. Its called Loews Ventana Canyon Resort and it was pretty fancy. While we were there, also all 50 of the Mrs. America contestants were also there for 10 days getting ready for their pageant. (They did make all us older, chubby women feel a little bit worse about ourselves, however.) Our room was super nice...

 .... with a BIG, comfortable king size bed.

 It had a nice sitting area, couch, desk and another chair with reading light. However, no wi-fi in the room without paying for it.

We had our own balcony that over-looked the pond and mountain.

 The tile in the bathroom was gorgeous. A basket for dirty towels and, although I didn't get a picture, there was a little TV on the wall. I also loved the big magnifying mirror that was in there.

 From the picture you can't tell that this tub was HUGE! 

It was like a queen sized bed!

 The outside of the resort was just as nice with lots to do. Behind the resort was a trail leading up to this really cool water fall. The creek meandered down and fed all the ponds. (ps - that is Mrs. Arizona out on her early morning hike. She was very nice.)

 When the season is dry, they do have to pump water

up above to keep the water fall going.

 These paths were all lit up at night, which was really nice.

 I don't know why, but the water was blue green, even in the ponds.

 The jacuzzi was nice and we had it all to ourselves!

Looking from our balcony. The ponds were full of huge koi, they are really just glorified carp, but really pretty colors. 

 Friday we went up to Sabino Canyon and rode this little tram up about 3.8 miles and had a narrated tour. 

 It was beautiful with all the water running. 

 The tour guide told us 'sabino' means rust, and the water did look

all reddish brown.

 We rode up to the top and then coming back down we got off at #8 where we hiked down to the creek and got cooled off.

 We toured the visitors center there and enjoyed all of it!

Later we went to Trail Dust Town. It was a cool little

place that looked like an old west town. It had lots of

neat stuff to see.

 This is the famous Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse where we met Sonja & Randy for dinner. If you come in with a tie on, they cut if off you and hang it somewhere in the restaurant. It has thousands of ties hanging everywhere!

 For a couple of dollars, you can ride this little train. It wasn't opened yet when we got there.

 This was a cute little shop. There were rifles and LaVerl shot at all the little targets and they made funny noises and movements when he hit the target. 

 This old wagon was HUGE!

 It was so fun meeting up with my sister Sonja & husband. They just happened to be coming to Tucson for their anniversary!

 After the restaurant we went to a Wild West stuntman show. It was really cute and entertaining.

 These 3 guys put on a great show. They fell off buildings, had some pretty good fist fights and fell into wells.  It was great!

 The funnest thing was did was go to the Gaslight Theatre. The show playing was Spider-Guy. It was so well done and so entertaining. We all laughed so hard and had a great time.

 We sat at a little table where we were served popcorn and then brought a menu where we could order any food item to eat during the show. There was a piano player, a base guitar and drummer doing all the music for the show.

So that was our trip. It was great fun, we enjoyed relaxing and seeing the sites of Tucson. We need to all plan a little trip there, be thinking of when we can all get together!!
