Get Away FUN with the Lee's

 LaVerl wanted to take me to Lake Powell for a little get-away and because its been so very long ago that I've been there. To make the trip more fun, we decided to invite my sister Sonja and husband Randy to come with us! We picked them up on Friday Oct. 9th at 5:30 am and drove to Page, AZ. 

We put in at Antelope Point and were on the lake by 11:30. It was a little cool at first with the water splashing on us, but what a beautiful, amazing place Lake Powell is! 

There are some really huge houseboats stored here!

It wasn't long until we found a nice little fishing spot!

                    LaVerl caught a couple of BIG ONES!

We ate at a really good Mexican place for dinner. It was great, there were no masks and no social distancing! We were celebrating Sonja's birthday on Saturday!

We got up early and headed home so we could be there in time to watch the BYU game that Randy recorded. We would've made it in time except for a wreck on the interstate that held us up for 2 hrs. LaVerl and Randy sure had lots to visit about! Sonja and I talked non-stop too! I sure love my sister!

It was really a bummer because a big tanker truck going west on the I-40 crossed the medium and turned over on our side of the interstate just before our exit! You can see our exit sign in the background! We were about 3 miles back stopped in all the traffic!

So that was our little get-away! It was short, but we saw some awesome wonders of nature, enjoyed being out on beautiful Lake Powell, and mostly loved being with family!

FALL BREAK-- Lisa and Kiddos come visit....

 It was fun having Lisa and Lilly, Lucy and Landon come home to Eagar. Its still HOT in Queen Creek and they needed to see Fall in the mountains. They played outside in the cool weather, they played in the treehouse and on the zipline, they picked pumpkins in Gpa's pumpkin patch, took lots of rides on the 'quads', S'Mores's around the firepit at night and we went to the Zoo here in Eagar!

 

The R Lazy J Wildlife Ranch or Zoo in Eagar has quite a few animals!

The kids LOVED "Christmas" the camel. She is VERY friendly and hungry. They fed her lots of carrots.

S'mores are always fun at night around the firepit! Lucy caught a little cat! Lilly had her little friend, Emerson (Ashley (Nicoll) Hamblin's child, over to play.

If it has a KEY and a motor, Landon will find it!

FALL HAS ARRIVED!

We've been wanting to go up to see the colors on the mountain, so today we did. We drove to the trailhead to the Escudilla Lookout and started walking. We met a guy coming down with his dog and he told us the hike is 3.2 miles one way. The first part of the trail was a pretty gradual climb, but it got harder. I'm out of shape and overweight, but I did it, all the way to the highest point on Escudilla Mountain. 

We saw fantastic panoramic views from on top and all the aspens were beautiful yellows and oranges.

Starting out, the trail was great!

See the tower, way in the distance? That was where we were hiking to.

We could see a fire down on the Blue from up high where we were!

Finally made it to the top! 10,700 feet! I was one tired hiker!

The Lookout tower was all fenced off, it would have been fun to climb to the top and see the view from there!

Coming down was a lot faster and easier, but hard on my knees and hip!

It really was great to see the Fall colors. We met people on the trail that said this trail was on their "bucket list" of trails to hike. So I'm glad that after living here for 35+ years, we finally did it!

HOME- A VERY BUSY PLACE!

 Well, I've been home about a month now. My folks have decided that Sonja and I don't need to spend so much time with them anymore, infact, my Mom insisted on it. I feel guilty, but I think they are OK on their own for awhile. I have needed to be home, I've been busy with our pears and our corn- I put 13 quarts in the freezer. I got a 40 lb. box of chicken breasts and a 40 lb. block of cheese that I grated and put both in the freezer. I defrosted all 3 of my freezers, I cleaned out my pantry in the basement and organized everything. Lisa came and spent a week and Tami's family came for about 4 days. Then every weekend after that, I've had company. Bret & Suzy's family came, then Dave & Mary and this weekend Mark's family was here!

The grandkids all had a ball chasing and trying to catch the 4 roosters we had wandering around. We put them out of the hen house and hoped something would get them, but every morning they were still here cock-a-doodling around 4:30am! Blake and Colter got Gpa's big fishing nets and finally got this one!

When Mark's kids were here, they got another white one! I didn't get a picture of Bret's kids catching the others ones. We loaded them up in the live trap and took the kids on a RZR ride up the mountain and let them loose!

LaVerl has been busy too. When Lisa and Tami were here, they both helped LaVerl start cleaning his huge shop. It was major! Then, after 30 years he finally put some really good lighting in his big shop! He also put 8 new sky lights in, the old ones were starting to leak. He had to get on his really tall ladder to reach! He also ran power over to where the treehouse is.

 

 Dave and Mary came to see us and he brought LaVerl a really cool old car because he didn't have room for it. Its a 1948 Dodge 4 door sedan- Fluid Drive. We took them and J'net & Bryan all up to Molly Butlers for a nice dinner.

 

We always like to take the kids to DQ for treats when they come. Mark had taken them down on the Little Colorado river to try to catch some crawdads. They caught 9 and they ate them!

 

To make room for his new acquisition, he had to make room in the shop, so Mark took home LaVerl's 1930 Model A coupe. He's had it since he was 16 years old. Its just been sitting for lots of years and Mark will now get it all restored!

Maybe Mark knew as a baby that he would someday get this Model A!

And there it goes to its new home!
