Last week Jayde and I decided to go to Vegas to visit Ray and Trever- they have been there all summer doing electrical work on an air force base. It was great fun. We went and rode a big roller coaster, and went to a concert with Vanessa Carlton, Fuel, and LifeHouse, sadly it was so windy Life House didnt really get to play. It was nice to see Trever before he goes on a mission. We didnt go on the strip or anything, which I don;t mind at all because it really doesny appeal to me- I'll chose the mountains and stars over shiny, flashy lights anyday!

So there was at least 3-4 times this week that people have said to me "has any one ever told you that you look like Terri Hatcher from desperate house wives?" and every time i'm like what are they thinking? YES, I have been told this before along with CHER!!?? what?. So after about the 4th time hearing this I looked at some pics.......

What a week!- letter from Reed

Well hello Family! It was great to hear from just about everyone. Well it sounds like you all are great, sure there are a lot of stresses in life but with an eternal perspective we know what is important and we dont lose hope. Well first off I'll answer a few questions for Mom. Well, I need some garments, and I like the dry-lux. 32 or 34 will do, I think medium is good but I like the Long style to tuck in my shirt, with the eternal smile style (round neck like dad's). As far as the camera goes, I lost it all, memory cards, bateries, everything. The only thing I have is the cable ( I got the package with the peanut butter and CD, thanks!) So it can be any type of Camera, but I was thinking about it, if its a big worry dont worry about it. I dont want to be a burden, but a camera would be nice. I think that covers everything.Anyway, here the work is going good. We are always busy busy. This past Sunday was good and things are looking pretty good. We had 2 baptisms, Ana and her Daughter Glaucia. Ana is 50 or so and has had a pretty hard life and has been looking for an answer to her prayers. Well we made a contact with her a couple of weeks ago and went and taught her. She accepted everything and Even cried during the lesson and thanked us for our visit. When she read and prayed, she recieved a witness that the Book is True and that the Church is True. Well 2 days later we talked to her 20 year old daughter Glaucia and taught her too and she also has been searching for the truth and recieved a witness that the things are true. She writes books and is really smart and was in doubt about baptism a couple weeks ago but we had a really spiritual lesson with her and she was really excited about her baptism. They are 2 people with hearts of gold. We are working with a few other people too. Carol, Arthur's sister is preparing to be baptized this Sunday, but she has a few doubts because her friends say stuff about the church. We are also working with their mom. She watched Arthur's baptism and really liked the church. She told us that lots of other people have came to their house trying to convert them from other churches but she said that while we're there, she feels something different, a peace. The problem is that she smokes but we are going to help her. She said she will go to church this Sunday and then we'll really start concentrating on her. Also, we are teaching Sandra. Sandra had gone to church a long time ago, almost 10 years, but she wasnt baptized. She went and talked to the Bishop and wanted to return full force to the church, but they searched for her records and she wasnt baptized. So we are teaching her everything again and she will be baptized this Sunday. 2 Other men we are working with went to church on Sunday; Maciel and Mesaque. Maciel is Mesaque's dad. Maciel is the smartest guy I have ever taught on the mission. He knows EVERYTHING about the Bible. He goes to a church called the Congregational Church where there isnt a pastor or leader, anyone can just go up to the front and speak. Well he knows everything about the Bible but he is really open to everything we teach. We were teaching his other son, but the other son didnt want to continue, but when we had marked to teach his son, his son had left but his dad, Maciel, had stayed there waiting for us because he wanted to talk to us. We talked for more than an hour just answering his questions. He had already been reading and studying the Book of Mormon since we were teaching his son. We marked to teach them again and this time we taught the first lesson and he accepted everything, and even said taht he already knew that everything was true. His son is in doubt still but Maciel just is hungry for truth and knowledge. He has been to church a few times and always feels the spirit and he told us that he wants to congregate in our church and be baptized. Well we are working with him for this Sunday but it looks like its going to have to wait a little bit, but we'll see. I can see him as a leader in the church. He has sooo many ideas and is reading and praying. He asked us about the book of Moses and Abraham and the Doctrine and Covenants the 2nd time we went to his house. He accepts everything as true and I love going there to talk with him and teach him. The lessons always take a long time because of all of his questions. We had to teach the 2nd lesson about the plan of salvation in 2 hour and a half visits, and we went to his house yesturday to teach the Gospel and it took an hour and a half to teach about Faith, repentance, and baptism. He lives in a little humble house and is a great man.Well, I wish I could write more but I gotta go. Thank you all for your letters and support, keep them coming. Surprise of My Life!

Hello dear family! Yes, you can imagine my surprise yesterday as I was innocently sitting in my Gospel Principles class with my investigators when the back door opens up and I see Mark standing there! I jumped up and ran to him, maybe even let out a few squills, and just hugged him. Afterwards some of the investigators asked if he was my boyfriend... I guess they didn't see Holly! Anyways, it was sooo great to see them, especially Kaemon and Milea. I could've held Milea all day, but my back is sore today just from the little bit I did hold her! I don't know how I'll have kids with this back of mine! They stayed for about 1 1/2 hours and I would've loved to take them around my area aka little Mexico, but I would've had to leave my investigators alone and be late to our appointments, and probably would've felt like I was breaking some sort of rule (sometimes I wish I wasn't so responsible!) I felt so loved that they would drive for 5 hours just to see me! THANK YOU MARK AND HOLLY! I LOVE YOU!! One more reason why I love serving in the states- i love surprises!So as you can see, I did not get transfered from Carson B. That will put me 7 1/2 months in the same ward. I'm happy though to be here still and to be with Hna. LaBarge. We are working with some amazing people and have 4 with baptisimal dates, but none of them are really progressing. As Reed has put it before, Sunday is game day and kind of tells you where everyone is really at. We are teaching great people who read and pray, but it's not enough if they don't come to church. None of the 4 with dates came to church yesterday either- frustrating! So this upcoming week is going to be a week of sifting through all these people. We are likely going to be doing a lot of dropping, which brought tears to my eyes this morning as I was thinking about it, but time is just too precious to be wasting on people who don't want to progress. So pray that they will all have the burning desire to leave the world behind, change their lives, and be baptized- we're not really asking all that much are we?! This last week we had a FHE with Lesley's family (she is getting baptized on nov 10) and they invited all their nieghbors to join so we we had about 22 people there, about 15 that were not members! So that was pretty sweet. We had the relief society president give the lesson, and of course the other neighbors had their rap music blaring and it started raining just during the lesson and then ended when she was done. It seems like that is always the case- the phone always rings right when we start sharing about the restoration or the baby cries... Satan does everything he can to distract and to drive the Spirit away. Everyone still seemed to enjoy it though. Oh ya, a miracle happened yesterday as our beloved Donna Forbes, in-active for 22 years if you'll remember, came to church!!! She has a little word of wisdom problem and just started chuckling when she got her program that said the theme for sacrament would be the word of wisdom! That morning she had prayed and asked the Lord if this is what He wanted for her, and if so, to give her a sign. She took that as her sign and just said "Ok Lord, I got it!" So miracles really do still happen- never give up! It amazes me how aware of His children he is. Congrats Bret on passing your test and on your raise- smarty pants. Wish I could see your road show- I'm sure it is pretty stinkin hilarious if you wrote it, afterall, funny genes do run in our family! Good luck to you! Yes mom, I probably ought to get the flu shot- ?Por que No? But if it's too pricey, don't worry about it. Also, thanks for doing the investigation with EFY- looks like I'll just worry about it in Feb! I hope you all are enjoying the Fall leaves- I miss seeing trees and color- those don't really exist here. Our Park City Vacation..

Well, this was supposed to be the second post, oh well again. The really nice sideways picture is one that I know you are all interested in. This is Marie Witkamp, Chads special friend. She lives with her family in Heber, and we had a really nice visit with her family. Chad met her at the temple and he really likes her. She is very sweet and seems to like him too!!

pretty amazing. I will never throw away even a
stained, holey, ruined piece of clothing, everything
is put to use here.

Better Late than Never... Pics of Park City

Okay, for the second time I will try to post this. We all had a great
time in Park City at this fancy resort. It was fun to spend a week
there, but would've been more fun if all the kids could've come and
then stayed longer. Dad & I had fun, but got a little bored at the
resort after everyone left. We did have fun seeing the sites of
Salt Lake City and around.

We drove up from San Diego to Carson, CA to surprise visit Kari at church today. We found her in a Gospel Principles class and when she saw us she screamed and ran out of the room. She was so surprised and loved holding her little niece. Kaemon wasn't too nice and wouldn't let her hold him and wouldn't say her name. It always takes him a couple times to warm up to anyone. She is doing very well, looks great and is working hard to share the love of Christ with all. We should all be proud of the outstanding missionary we have.

Well hello everybody! It was good to hear from you guys. Well, to day was transfers and I got some good news: I am staying here for 6 more weeks! Elder Gogoni and I will be here for at least 6 more weeks together so Im pretty pumped about this next transfer. Things are going really great here. This past week has been pretty jam packed with stuff. Thursday, Friday and Saturday were jam packed with teaching and finding new people. Thursday we taught Ana. SHe is 40 years old or so and it was a really spiritual message. She said she really wanted to know which church was true. She has already dated with a returned missionary but the problem is that the returned missionary started doing drugs and stuff like that and wasnt a very good example for her. On Saturday we talked to her and her daughter Ana Glaussia who is 20. They both went to church on Sunday and they really liked it. They both know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet. They have a few doubts but they are really good people with good hearts and want to know the truth and be happy.
On Sunday we had 3 baptisms. Maizze, Igor, and Mikaeli. Maizze is 17 and is Matheus' (a 13 year old that we baptized 6 weeks ago) sister. She has a little boy that is 1 1/2 years old and she is a really special person. her older brother served a mission a long time ago but she never
was interested in the church. Well now she sees the importance of the gospel and knows the church is true. She wants to get married in the temple and have a family in the church. Her brother, Mario, came from Joao Pessoa to be at her baptism. It was really special. Igor is 11 and his mom has been inactive in the church for a long time. We recieved a refferral of her and so we visited her and we reactivated her and we started teaching Igor. He is 11 but is really smart. Mikaeli is the same thing, but they found us on the street, her and her mom. Her mom has been a member for 11 years and Mikaeli was preparing to be baptized a while ago but the missionaries were transfered. Well they stopped us on the street and so we went to their house and helped them go back to church and then prepared Mikaeli to be baptized. She is a funny little girl and is just really happy and loves the missionaries. Her mom hasnt been working for a while so they are in a tight situation with money but Mikaeli always wants to go and buy bread for us or make something for us.They are really special people. Other than this we have been teaching a lot and finding a lot of people. I am kinda sad right now because currently we aren't teaching any families. We found few families but they didnt progress and so we are kinda at a low point for families. Please pray that we find FAMILIES and MEN. This is what the church needs. God wants everyone to be baptized for sure but the Kingdom of God cant be built here on earth without priesthood holders and Families. This is what we are looking for; to establish the kindgom of God here on earth. Well, I love you all and hope all is well. I am doing great and just loving life.

1 - Elder C Ferreira the day he left for home. He was pretty sad but
all good things must end. He was crying pretty good as you can see.
2 - Matheus at his baptism. he is really firm and lives close to the
church. He passes the sacrament and helps us a lot. His sister was
baptized this Sunday.
3 - This is the family that we reactivated the parents and baptized the
3 kids; Adelle is being baptized, Ramonna, and Icaro were baptized.
4 - This is Lauzier and Marcos. We baptized Marcos and then 3 weeks
after he got to baptized Lauzier, his friend. Junior was also there and we
baptized him 2 weeks after this.
